Galligator "ride the crocodile" competition entries

(England) here are the first entries... joking ^_^
tonight sounds like a drunk night :)

notice that the alligator is fully clothed :)

Meanwhile, to participate in the competition ^_^, an Australian risked his life:
never smile at a crocodile is what most of us has grown up singing, but for one man who ignored this advice, took his drunken adventure one step too far. The intoxicated Australian thought it was a good idea to climb into a crocodile cage so he could ride the 5m giant.
The 36 year old man, who has not been named by Police, was bit by the 800kg reptile after he tried to straddle it.
Fatso, the crocodile gnawed chunks of flesh away from the man’s leg, who is now in hospital recovering from a serious leg wound.
Earlier that night, the man was kicked out of a pub in Broome, Western Australia for being too drunk.
Michael Douglas, Park Owner said:
“No person in their right mind would try to sit on a 5m Saltwater crocodile, once they get hold of you, are not renowned for letting you go.”
The drunken man had climbed over the fence and into the pen where Fatso lay. The man had a lucky escape as the crocodile was capable of crushing anybody to death with a single bite.
“If it had been warmer and Fatso was more alert, we would have been dealing with a fatality,” said Mr Douglas.
After the ordeal, the drunken man stumbled back to the pub where he was originally thrown out.
The man walked by with flesh hanging off him at around 11pm. After surgery and many glasses of water, the man’s condition is said to be stable.

it's grin up north, Mario!

MANCHESTER - 1st January, as on 26 December Boxing Day, in England they play football, even every 2-3 days. In Italy you couldn't even imagine it, they have at least 2 weeks of holidays... too tired, poor babies ^_^
But many, as Capello, proposed to stop the games also in freezing England, now they always play: that's one of the reasons why England team is tired in the summer... they should have a break. Well, last summer also Italy was tired...

Nigel de Jong thinks Mario Balotelli should allow himself to enjoy the moment when he finds the net for City – especially as the Dutch midfielder is still waiting to find out how that feels!
The enigmatic Italian rarely smiles when scoring, seeing it as all part of his job, but his team mates led by de Jong finally got a couple out of him during his hat-trick against Aston Villa on Tuesday.
The popular Dutch midfielder, captain for last Tuesday’s game, has yet to bag one himself in nearly two years at the club but is keen to encourage the 20 year-old-striker when it happens for him.
“I’ve told him, ‘You’ve gotta keep smiling when you score!’” laughs Nigel. “Not everyone can score goals - I still haven’t scored in almost two years here - so Mario needs to keep smiling when he manages it.
“He’s a lively guy and he is a lively guy in the dressing room as well. Sometimes, his body language is not what you would want to have on the pitch, but he is a winner and he always wants to win and score.
"He is quite critical about himself. If he loses the ball or doesn’t score a great opportunity, he criticises himself.
“But he is a top bloke and, at 20, he is still very young. We are all there to help him to settle in, though.”
Identified as a major talent at a young age in Italy, there was a lot of expectancy around Mario on his arrival at City from Inter Milan last summer, so does Nigel think he can live up this?
“If you see the raw ability, yes,” he adds. “If he progresses over the next five years, then people will say he is one of the best strikers in the world.
“He is still a talent now, but he can become a great player and he knows that himself. You can only become a great player by working hard every day, though, and believing in yourself, with the backing of your team-mates. We will provide that, but he has to do the rest himself.”

Beady Eye heavily praised by fans: better than Oasis

LONDON - I like it but I'm not a big fan of the successful Definitely Maybe, so when Liam said Beady Eye first album will be better than Oasis first album, I think it's probably true. Also because it's mature and "powerful"(Definitely Maybe with McCarroll on drums, it couldn't be so powerful). Liam is right when he says the musicians are better now (well, if we don't consider Noel) ...of course Guigsy, Bonehead and McCarroll were worse than Gem, Andy, Chris and Jeff.
by Emma: Beady Eye’s track “Four Letter Word” has been heavily praised by fans, with some even claiming its better than later Oasis material.
The track has restored faith in Liam Gallagher’s new bands efforts after the first track to be heard by Liam and co, “Bring The Light” received a lukewarm reaction, many slating the song.
Now with “Four Letter Word” hitting the net with a video to boot fans have had their say online.
Some comments: “Four Letter Word – WHAT a fucking tune. Noel would be proud to have written a track this good (seen as he hasn’t since ’97) . Have to say I’m very impressed with Gem too. This tune beats the shit out of anything on DOYS. Very refreshing, and if this is a true indication of the rest of DGSS (despite the mediocre BTL), we, my friends, are in for a fucking MASSIVE album.”
“Fuckin tune!! What an opener to the album. Quite aggressive at bits and will be a stomping bit of “Liam, Liam” live!”
“I’m going to dampen the mood and point out that it goes on for 30 seconds too long and the ‘nothing ever lasts forever’ bit sounds tacked on. Doesn’t stop it being a great song though, particularly the solo.”
“Fucking brilliant. Love it. Their best so far …”, Emma: “I fucking love it!! I’m excited for February now”, another one: “This should have been the first single – this is the kind of thing I was expecting, on par with The Shock Of The Lightning for me”.
“Dare I say it, the boys are back. Liam’s on top form and that eastern tinged guitar is just superb.Totally different to “bring the light”, it’s a proper beast of a tune and if the album is all this quality then I take back what I said. Beady Eye, REM and Elbow albums all come out in a 7 day period, I can’t wait till Late Feb now. THIS my friends is Oasis, and this single is arguably the best lead single for an album since 1995. The EIGHTH oasis album!! Who needs Noel?”

Four Letter Word: Def Leppard, Bob Dylan, The Smiths

Again some cinema: tits ^_^,
the film Love is a Four Letter Word (1964), see here
The phrase four-letter word refers to a set of English-language words written with four letters which are considered profane, including common popular or slang terms for excretoryfunctions, sexual activity and genitalia, and (depending on the listener/reader) sometimes also certain terms relating to Hell and damnation when used outside their original religious context, and/or slurs. The "four-letter" claim refers to the fact that a large number of English "swear words" are incidentally four-character monosyllables. This euphemism came into use during the first half of the twentieth century.
Common four-letter words (in this sense) that are widely considered vulgar or offensive to a notable degree include: cunt, fuck (and regional variants such as feck, fick and foak), jism (orgism), jizz, piss, shit, twat and tits. Piss in particular, however, may be used in non-excretory contexts (pissed off, i.e. "angry", in US English; pissed, i.e. "drunk" in UK English) that are often not considered particularly offensive, and the word also occurs several times with its excretory meaning in the King James Bible. Several of these (including even piss, despite its biblical pedigree) have been declared legally indecent under the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) TV and radio open-airwave broadcasting regulations.
A number of additional words of this length are upsetting to some, for religious or personal sensitivity reasons, such as: arse (UK), damn, fart, hell, wang, and wank (UK). Ethnic andsexual-preference slurs may also qualify, such as mong, gook, kike, spic and dyke. Several "four-letter words" have multiple meanings (some even serving as given names), and usually only offend when used in their vulgar senses, for example: cock, dick, knob, muff, puss, shag (UK) and toss (UK). A borderline category includes words that are euphemistic evasions of "stronger" words, as well as those that happen to be short and have both an expletive sound to some listeners as well as a sexual or excretory meaning (many also have other, non-vulgar meanings): butt (US), crap, darn, dump, heck, poop (US), slag (UK, NZ, AUS), slut and turd, as several examples. Finally, certain four-lettered terms with limited usage can be considered offensive by some, within the regional dialect in which they are used, such as mong and mary. Occasionally the phrase "four-letter word" is humorously used to describe any word composed of four letters. This is the case when used to mean the word work, alleging that the speaker's or writer's audience treats work as unpleasant, or when the game of golf is noted as a four-letter word because the player's chosen entertainment pastime becomes an exercise in frustration.

it's Mario tagliatelle: Italian restaurant's favourite guest (Pretty Green same street)

MANCHESTER - City star Mario Balotelli isn't too keen on his local grub.
The Italian striker has been snubbing delicacies such as chips and gravy in favour of more familiar cuisine.
He has become a regular customer at Italian restaurant San Carlo in the city centre (in King street as Pretty Green store).
Mario eats there so regularly he has even been given his own dedicated table.
A source said: "Mario pops in practically every night.
"He brings his mates along with him for a meal whenever they are over from Italy and he also comes in on his own a lot.
"The waiters love him and he is always good fun when he pops down.
"They are even helping him to improve his English - he's their favourite guest."

hypnotic Can y'see it now?? (I can see it now!!) rare 50 copies for DJs

Another (semi) instrumental after the 1994 jam @ secret gig with groupies, though big fans might already know the Japanese release.
This here to download for collectors, is an extremely rare Big Brother promotional 12" one sided vinyl of the 'secret song' pressed for a few selected DJs and radio stations on Noel Gallagher's request (witten by him). Limited to an incredible 50 copies only. This track is not featured on the forthcoming album but is still a taster for what is to come with a mainly instrumental epic climaxing with vocals chanting "I can see it now" to fade.
My invincible ear :) can notice some differences between the versions, the shorter length of the intro, some different sounds and the whole song is a bit faster.
These sort of distorted guitars seem outta tune, this hypnotic tune makes me mad, I could listen to it continuously and then be mad as a result :)
It reminds me the times of "It's good to be free"... Background: sounds like a police siren :), as the Beatles did, putting also other sounds in their songs.

tabloids say Balotelli is not playing and he scores 3 goals, hat...trick

MANCHESTER - Coming up next @ Pretty Green... Mario hat, lol.
Breaking news. This is another time where you can see tabloids say bullshit. The game just started and Balotelli scored, 1-0 (maybe it was his brother and Mario is at home on his sofa?)
2-0 after only 12 minutes, 3-0 and 4-0 Mario again. They also fooled him around for his hats, and here is a hat-trick, 3 goals. About 8 real games for him (but not always playing 90 minutes), 8 goals. The last Italian scoring 3 goals in a Premier League game was Zola.
City temporarily 1st. Please keep on talking shit.
Meanwhile, also Cassano scored, assist from Ibrahimovic, during the first training in Dubai.

Dzeko @ City to win title

MANCHESTER - City's hopes of landing Edzin Dzeko next month received a massive boost after Wolfsburg's decision to let him go for around £25m.
Steve McClaren's relegation-threatened side are ready to cash in on the Bosnian and City will face stiff competition from Italian Juventus.
Dzeko has a £35m get-out clause in his contract and has stated his desire to join City or an Italian club (- time ago he said to be an AC Milan fan all his life - ).
McClaren is desperate to keep hold of Dzeko, 24, and has made him captain.
But general manager Dieter Hoeness has threatened a winter clearout in order to get the 2009 Bundesliga champions, who have struggled under McClaren, back on track. City chief Mancini believes Dzeko is the missing link in his squad in order to turn his team into winners.
Mario Balotelli wants to leave Manchester City after just five months at the club.
The 20-year-old Italian striker is homesick after failing to settle in Manchester.
He has cut a miserable figure since making a £24million switch from Inter Milan and has revealed to those closest to him he wants to return home to Italy.
Balotelli has no issues with manager Roberto Mancini who has done everything to help the player settle into his new surroundings.
But the striker has found it difficult to make friends or find anyone to socialise with. He has failed to strike up any sort of a relationship with his team-mates on or off the pitch.
Mancini's own patience with the player has been stretched recently after he turned in an awful performance in City's 2-1 home defeat against Everton.
As SunSport predicted, he was axed for the 3-1 away victory at Newcastle on Boxing Day and will be on the bench again today for the visit of Aston Villa (bullshit, he's playing).
Mancini said: "If Mario deserves to play he will play, if he doesn't deserve to play he doesn't play. If Mario doesn't work, he doesn't play. Mario is a special player but you have to put strength and heart into your performances as well.
"I do not know why he does not look happy. He is in a fantastic team playing in probably the best league in the world. Manchester is not like Milan but he has to accept it."
Balotelli - who has scored five goals in 10 City appearances (in reality they're 7) - accepts it will be difficult to leave in January but will look to get away in the summer. He was injured at the start of the season and returned to Milan during his recuperation.
The striker was then sent off at West Brom having scored twice.
Mancini believes Balotelli will one day be regarded as among the best in the world - yet he has struggled so far to adapt to the English game.
His frustration has brought five yellow cards including one at Newcastle on Sunday when he came on with just five minutes to go.
Balotelli has spoken of his desire to return to Milan one day and play for AC rather than Inter. He is good friends with former Inter team-mate Zlatan Ibrahimovic who has fired AC Milan to the top of Serie A this season.
(some bullshit from the usual anti-Italian cunt Custis)
Meanwhile, AC Milan staff is in Argentina to buy the "new Kakà", Erik Lamela. Inter Milan were interested in him, but then got Coutinho, already a failure.

OasisBlues book to be published in 2011

MILAN - Sometimes I'm worried I could lose all the nice things we fans publish on good websites as this one (and this is also good-looking :). So of course I saved everything, I've got my archives and copies. In case of accidental loss, everything would be published again in a few minutes.
Feltrinelli publisher, one of the main Italian publishing houses (they also sell instruments with Ricordi), will print OasisBlues, a "best of" collection: so now there's a long work to put everything in order, throw away things, add new ones, etc.
It's about everything we like: Oasis, music, fashion, football, cute girls :), Milan, City, England, Italy.
Of course I'm not gonna give millions of copies, it wouldn't be possible (maybe someday), just a few ones for the biggest fans who want to keep something real, not virtual as in internet. All this is gonna cost a few Euros, not much, mainly for the cost of putting all together and printing (it will be in colours and all). I think I'm gonna make one about Milan as first, then OasisBlues.
Recently I already wrote some issues, comic ones. And when I was a kid I made my own magazines (about cars, then videogames) and I had a thousand good ideas (the difficult and expensive part was printing, I was using an old typewriter as the great Montanelli :). Of course almost nobody was listening to me :), they were all sleeping as almost everybody now, history repeating :) (as the boy Noel on gigs: he always told his friends to come to the concerts - full of blondes :) - but of course nobody was listening :)
So now I can already have an idea of how many copies I should make them print, reserve your copy writing me: marco@oasisblues.com

my first Oasis concert: Nottingham 1994 + London

NOTTINGHAM - Dedicated to Sophie. I was writing about groupies. Some more Oasis history and rare material, my first time in England (100 years after City foundation :). AC Milan founder (with other English and Italians) was from Nottingham, also the place of my first gig. I was already following them time before ("Mister Sifter sold me songs when I was just 16" :) but this was the real first live. Definitely Maybe was going to be out soon, on 30 August (15 years later: 30.8.2009 Milan, would have been Oasis last gig), and Live Forever single was just released in those days.
We were travelling on a tourbus (see video down on the right column about my first time in England)
On 21 August there was a secret gig @ The Borderline Club after Oasis recorded Cigarettes&Alcohol promo video.
Then I also found the address of the English family hosting me and I wrote them a letter, old-fashioned way of communicating, the good old things :)
I feel like this was just yesterday and I still feel like a teenager (I told them: I'm still a boy... well not a girl yet ahahaha)
Sometimes I hear people saying "wow nice this is the sign of times finally changing!" ...oh yes and we see the results of changing... worse and worse. The other day a girl (or was it a boy? not sure about her/him) was referring to having seen a man doing his make-up in a toilet... some time ago men did other things in the toilets...
"My body feels young but my mind is very old" :)
In Italian we say "si stava meglio quando si stava peggio" (literally, we felt better when we were feeling worse) and I am the "zoccolo duro" (hard clog), the hard core of Oasis. Thank God Beady Eye (and Noel will, too) are conserving the old sound of certain bands called Beatles, Rolling Stones...and Oasis.
Stay young!

yours,
Peter Pan lol

Blow-up by M.Antonioni

LONDON - In these days I'm meeting models (they go mad for Milan), so today Christmas day dedicated to an old-fashioned movie (year 1966 England world champion), I watched again the film Blow-up :) by Michelangelo Antonioni, the Italian director who inspired Oasis with his film Zabriskie Point (see this old post), produced by near-Milan-born Carlo Ponti (Sophia Loren husband).
The actors are interesting people: David Hemmings (also on Dario Argento's "Profondo Rosso", Deep Red, the scariest film I ever seen), the English (and not french :) Jane Birkin (first frontal nude at cinema), Vanessa Redgrave, and my favourite musician, the immense Jimmy Page (and Noel agrees :)
My favourite director is Alfred Hitchcock, and there's a bit of him in Blow-up, some mystery, and also a bit of Swinging London which reminded me of Carnaby Street and Pretty Green.
The final scene in a field is meaningful, as the Beatles said: Strawberry fields, nothing is real.
Blow-up also inspired Brian De Palma film Blow Out with John "Tony Manero" Travolta :)

"I thought you were supposed to be in Paris"... Veruschka, model on drugs: "I am in Paris" ahahaha

Jesus got the heart of a star + Coachella

FUKUOKA - Here's a rare Noel with beard on his face :) ...Liam and we fans often said Liam is "God". Good, and Noel is Jesus :) ...You know, in Italian Christmas = Natale = Noel, from the Latin word 'natalis', birth.
Download this bootleg here from Heathen Chemistry tour, with a rare "You've got the heart of a star" live, and The Verve cover "Bittersweet symphony" (but I think I do it better than him), Liam's voice goes away during Morning Glory.
And here is Coachella festival, same year (email me for the password). There are always reunions at this festival (e.g. 2008: the Verve), so maybe also Oasis someday :)

Sons of the Stage video, Liam off to the pub, possible 3rd acoustic gig: this Christmas no farting ahaha

LONDON - Beady eyed fans should keep a eye out for Liam who said “We had Christmas at ours last year and we had everyone around, burping and farting and then falling asleep all over the place. So this year I've decided we're all going to a pub this time".
If he was in Milan again, he would go at the Football English pub again. Possible, as he comes to Milan very often.

Milan after City's Kompany. Mancini: Manchester is not Milan, you have to accept it, Mario

MANCHESTER - Mancini has hinted captain Carlos Tevez should apologise to fans to help restore his standing with the City faithful.
Tevez withdrew a transfer request on Monday after a week-long wrangle.
Mancini said: "It is now important Carlos plays well and scores goals. But the fans still love him."
Balotelli feels unhappy and will be on the bench for their Boxing Day trip to Newcastle.
The Eastlands boss added: "He must improve his situation and smile. Manchester is not like Milan but he has to accept it." Sounds like Oasis' Noel Gallagher complaining about Manchester, 'I would like to leave this city, this old town don't smell too pretty, and I can feel the warning sings runnin' around my mind...' :) (Half The World Away) / or 'This town holds no more for me...' (Rockin' Chair)
The Belgian Kompany (photo, already Milan red-black :) is on wages Milan can’t match after signing a bumper new five-year contract in October 2009.
But they can offer him Champions League football and a shot at the Serie A title this season in Italy, where they are currently top of the pile.
Kompany has played in the Europa League this season, but would still be eligible to play for Milan against Tottenham in the last 16 of the Champions League if he switched clubs.
Vice-president Adriano Galliani is willing to offer players in part-exchange to make the deal happen, with Milan misfit Ronaldinho among them.
The Brazil striker is surplus to requirements at the San Siro with Antonio Cassano set to join the club from Sampdoria.
Milan want Kompany because of injury fears over central defensive duo Thiago Silva-Nesta.
City are after Espanyol defender Victor Ruiz.

Mario is a good boy, I think he's even better than he thinks he is, also playing football. Yes he should be humble but you know this kind of great players are great also because they are mad: that's why I told him to remain the way he is. It's the same for Oasis fans: we are not humble people because we're great :)

Fred Perry sales + Amy Winehouse covering Oasis

MANCHESTER - The sales started (soon also Pretty Green), click here (man+woman).
This is the new Amy Winehouse collection.
Fred Perry competition ended (though it's still possible to vote and see the entries, as an archive), my challenge Oasis vs Beatles finished with a 54-54 :) and I'm among the first 50 people to win the £5,000 or clothes in January.
Thanks to all the people who voted, I'll offer you a pint, lol. Well if I win I would do something for all the people. I think in my entries there's more than enough "historical importance, spontaneity, wit" etc. required, so Mister Fred Perry could choose us :)

memorabilia: Liam tambourine and groupies

MILAN - Some Oasis history. I remember many years ago I was with an Oasis groupie girl and an (Italian) man (who we then nicknamed Mr Tambourine Man as Bob Dylan song :) gave us all the info about a tambourine course, how weird. It is the instrument played by Kate Moss on Oasis' Fade away 2nd version.
A tambourine is found in many forms of music, Italian folk music, classical music, gospel music, pop&rock music, etc. It was played in Italy even during the Roman empire (called "tympanum"), played exclusively by women while dancing (you can find it also on Giotto paintings), then called "tamburello", as today. Its shape is round to be similar to the sun (symbol of a fertility Goddess), in fact painters used to depict it in a red colour with flames around.
The way to play it, is a tradition carried on through oral communication. It's a cult item for Oasis, of course I have one. When Liam throws a tambourine to the crowd, people go mad to get it.
Will Liam (William :) Gallagher still play it with Beady Eye? He doesn't in the first video but at the gigs it's very likely.
When Liam's on stage, he commands your attention whether it be snarling out every word with limitless passion or challenging the audience to a staring out match (which he always wins!)  His trademark stance - leaning up towards the mic, arms behind his back - is known the world over and has become iconic in its own right. And we literally have no idea how many tambourines he's got through over the years!

Beady Eye gig in Milan sold out, New Year's Eve events, video on Boxing Day

MILAN - Latest news. The last tickets were available today, if you need one let me know.
Liam on Twitter just wrote "Happy Christmas to all the boys and girls from Liam Nicole Lennon Gene ruby and kid see you in the new year x"
Photo: if James Buckley can be a deejay, then everybody can ahaha
So I offer myself as deejay :)
What're you doing on 31 December? I celebrate the new year on 25 March. As Liam, I'm not a fan of parties anymore, I'm going rarely as him, but if you are, in Milan of course there's one @ Hollywood (an outrageous one, see here) or if you just wanna drink&eat loads as Liam, my advice is this German restaurant.
At 10am UK time on Boxing Day, Beady Eye will be streaming the video for their song 'Four Letter Word'. At the same time they will also be making available a very limited quantity of heavy-weight, numbered 7" records featuring the exclusive track 'World Outside My Room'.
The video, filmed in London on a cold day in November, was directed by Julian House and Julian Gibbs.

I think I'll get drunk as Liam said :), "getting wankered" alone with the family while the kids play with the new "fucking toys"...
I don't have kids so it's me who's gonna fucking play, not with toys ^_^ but something you have to be careful with, if you don't wanna have fucking kids then ahahaha (already drunk)

Oasis bad boy Balotelli Golden Boy 2010. Who is Jack Wilshere?

MILAN - After winning the Golden Boy award for best under-21 in Europe,  Mario Balotelli said: "What's his name? Wil ... ? No, I don't know him, but the next time I play against Arsenal I will keep a close eye on him. Perhaps I can show him the Golden Boy trophy and remind him that I won it."
Very Oasis style ("who the fuck are Man Utd?" :) ...Ah that team winning 7 international trophies. AC Milan 18. Baby come on.
Vote for Mario on Talksport poll clicking here (their readers are clearly against Mario, unfair result)
Balotelli has reiterated his desire to join AC Milan — once he has led Manchester City to Premier League and European glory.
The Italian striker only moved to Eastlands in the summer but has been consistently linked with a return to his homeland with his boyhood idols Milan.
But he intends to deliver City their first silverware for 34 years prior to securing his dream transfer to the Serie A leaders.
Speaking to Italian newspaper Tuttosport, he said: "I want to win two things — the Premier League and the Europa League.
"The Europa League is a trophy I have not won yet and I think we are favourites."
Last month, Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic told how he would love to team up with Balotelli at the San Siro.
And City's 20-year-old striker admits spearheading the Rossoneri's frontline with the Swedish superstar is something which appeals to him.
Balotelli added: "I will tell Ibrahimovic to carry on calling me so one day his desire comes true and I will be able to wear the Milan shirt."

Pretty Green as Oasis: most popular in Italy & Japan

MILAN - The rock star’s Pretty Green brand has swaggered into the menswear market, landing a Drapers Award. But the Oasis frontman is sure it won’t be a one-hit wonder.
I don’t do offices, mate. I’m not Ricky Gervais,” says Liam Gallagher, instantly brushing aside claims by his colleagues that he spends about a day a week in the HQ of Pretty Green, the menswear label he founded 18 months ago (beginning in Milan 21 months ago) and was now named Drapers Menswear Brand of the Year.
Instead, the Oasis frontman and Manchester icon gets involved with the design process at his kitchen table. “Me and [creative director] Nick Holland sit down at my house, and go through fabrics and styles. Nothing goes out unless I approve it,” he says. “I’ve always been interested in clothes, so to own my own label is very special.”
It’s an amusing image - this rock ‘n’ roll bad boy using his hands to finger swatches instead of flicking V signs at the paparazzi - but if Pretty Green chief executive Richard Ralph is to be believed, Gallagher’s “approval” doesn’t quite cover it.
“It’s more collaborative than that. Liam has a very strong sense of style himself,” he says. “Nick is the facilitator if you like. Liam is very meticulous about the details of things: Does the zip look right? Are the buttons right? Are the colours of the buttons right?”
Whoever is responsible - Gallagher, Holland or a harmonious combination of the two - Pretty Green’s sophisticated cut and attention to detail is what makes the label stand out and has silenced the sceptics who assumed Gallagher’s label would be just another in a line of disastrous celebrity-led clothing brands.
Pretty Green’s casualwear sub-brand Green Label is characterised by branded buttons and nods to the 1960s, but its premium sub-brand Black Label is where Holland’s background as a traditional tailor [he founded men’s suiting brand Holland Esquire] really comes into play.
The Drapers Award is a validation of this, says Gallagher. “I’m made up. It makes me feel like we are doing something right.”

Quality counts
Mark Bage, owner of York premium independent Sarah Coggles, which does a brisk trade in the Black Label range, agrees: “It is exceptionally good quality and really well designed. Nick’s
technical expertise means they haven’t gone for standard fit. They’ve really thought about who is wearing it.” According to Bage, Black Label is favoured by “macho” men, whose butch frames don’t necessarily suit the nipped-in waists and genteel styling of Italian labels.
It’s perhaps surprising then that Pretty Green’s best-performing territories outside the UK are Italy and Japan - neither of them known for the butch physiques of their male populations - but according to Ralph, Gallagher’s followers in those countries “are even more committed than in the UK”.
For a rock ‘n’ roll icon, Gallagher took a surprisingly un-rock ‘n’ roll route to launching Pretty Green. He and his long-standing security adviser Steve Allen had been discussing the potential for a clothing line on the 2008 Oasis tour and, when it ended, tapped up former Microsoft executive Nigel Grant to help them raise investment and assemble their dream team.
Holland was hired to focus on the product and Ralph, who as former chief financial officer at IT firm Ubiquity Software Corporation had no experience in fashion but plenty in accounting, was put in charge of steering the ship. Gallagher, who retains a majority stake in the company (the remainder is split between management and unnamed investors), is the frontman.
“It’s been good. Met some nice people, it moves a lot faster than the music,” he says of the transition to fashion.
The plan worked. Pretty Green has turned over about £4m in the 18 months since its launch, smack bang in the middle of the recession, and is currently breaking even. It expects to move into profit next year.
About half of that revenue comes via Pretty Green’s retail website, and the remainder from its wholesale business, which has about 100 UK stockists, including Sarah Coggles and Selfridges, and a further 30 or so overseas.
Pretty Green is also branching into bricks-and-mortar retail. It opened its first pop-up shop on London’s Carnaby Street in July and two more - in Manchester’s King Street and Ingram Street in Glasgow.
Overall, 30% of Pretty Green’s business comes from 80 territories overseas, and that proportion looks set to grow next year as Pretty Green focuses on international expansion. “[I’m after] world domination. I want PG to be global without losing its roots,” says Gallagher.

Big fanbase
Pretty Green may have some way to go in India though. At a recent meeting with Tata - India’s industrial giant which owns everything from department stores to lorry factories - one of the executives confused Pretty Green with fashion’s other PG, and congratulated Ralph on the success of his “Philip Green menswear brand”.
This would be annoying for most menswear brands, but it’s perhaps a mark of success for Pretty Green to have its celebrity associations overlooked.
Gallagher says: “Having me fronting things can go one of two ways. There are people who get me, and there are people that don’t. But the clothes speak for themselves.”
It will be a challenge to manage this balance between the Pretty Green and Gallagher ‘brands’ while chasing growth, but Ralph says the company is committed to a slow and steady approach that will allow this.
This is why, for example, Pretty Green will probably not launch a womenswear collection, as has been widely mooted, until around this time next year.
Says Ralph: “We’ve had discussions but if and when we do [womenswear] it will be a case of moving into it slowly, by doing a capsule collection to start off with. We have great momentum as a brand but it’s very easy to drift off into popular [product] areas and lose your creative direction that way. We are keen to make sure the right time and effort will go into each item.”
The naysayers had better watch out. It turns out that Gallagher, the unlikely fashion mogul, is serious about product and is in it for the long haul.

thoughts on the album

Obviously it's a little early for reviews and critique but here are a few of our thoughts on the clips:

Four Letter Word

Less the wimpy ballad I’d expected it to be, more a kick in the balls. Very much in the vein of Don’t Believe The Truth but with more aggression.

Millionaire

Sounds like it should be a summer single. Very melodic and a gentle vocal delivery from Liam.

The Roller

Instant Karma meets All You Need Is Love. Mid tempo stomper with a chorus that may divide opinion.

Beatles and Stones

Liam sings about standing the test of time like the Beatles and Stones to a tune that sounds strikingly similar to the Who’s My Generation. I’m relieved its not a song that just lists his favourite Beatles and Stones songs, akin to one he did about Oasis which Noel gleefully told the press about.

Wind Up Dream

Up-beat tempo with multi-layered vocals and maraca shaking complete with trademark Liam ‘come on’ refrains.

[ Bring The Light - enough said ]

For Anyone

Liam sounds incredible on this one. It has the potential to be the best track on the album and could be his stab at Across The Universe.

Kill For A Dream

Another sixties influenced acoustic, tuneful track with Liam reaching unimaginably high notes. Could be difficult to emulate live.

Standing On The Edge Of The Noise

Liam’s second full-on rocker of the album and judging by this clip he seems to have moved on from the dirge of Aint Got Nothing. Could be a great gig opener.

Wigwam

The most intriguing of all the song previews. Sounds like nothing else on the album and alludes to being one of the more psychedelic moments of the LP.

Three Ring Circus

More old school rock n’roll but a question mark certainly hangs over this one.

The Beat Goes On

The melody hints at Oasis’ Pink Floyd inspired Those Swollen Hand Blues. Incredible vocals from Liam and a clear Beatles influence. This one could be huge.

Morning Son

Sounds like its been taken straight from the pre-Oasis Lost Tapes bootleg – which isn’t a bad thing. If the entire song is acoustic as the preview suggests it could be the album’s Married With Children.

french iTunes and Liam changed his opinion: not happy to give free music

LONDON - french iTunes posted a preview of Beady Eye's Album "Different Gear, Still Speeding" online. I never use such programs, and being french I wouldn't even touch it.
A few months ago, when asked if illegal music downloaders bother him, Liam said:
"Downloading’s the same as what I used to do – I used to tape the charts of the songs I liked [off the radio]. I don’t mind it. I hate all these big, silly rock stars who moan – at least they’re fuckin’ downloading your music, you cunt, and paying attention, know what I mean? You should fuckin’ appreciate that – what are you moaning about? You’ve got fuckin’ five big houses, so shut up."
But now Liam was unhappy that his group Beady Eye gave their debut track, 'Bring The Light', away as a free download.
The singer insists it wasn't his idea to showcase their first track 'Bring The Light' as an unpaid for download on the band's official website.
He said: "It got everybody off the sofa and humping around like a bunch of fucking monkeys. And that's what we're after.
"It wasn't my idea to give it away for fucking nothing though. I'll tell you right now, I wasn't having that."
The rocker also revealed he was responsible for naming the new group, but insists they would have been successful regardless of their moniker.
He added: "That was my idea. We'd come up with loads of names but that was the one that rang true for me.
"But it's not about the name anyway is it? It's about how good your music is. You could be called Veiny Love Stick, but if your music's shit then it's shit. At the end of the day, a name's a name. It's what you put into it that matters."
here was another video of the new album
with a slideshow made by Eveline
but YouTube erased it again (also on Dailymotion).
You can still find the last video on Oasisblues :)

Quadrophenia mods leader again in Milan

MILAN - I gave 2 Relays cds, 1 to Sting, 1 to Red Ronnie. Left a drunk :) message: hello Ace Face :) (he also put a smiley emoticon :), we are mods, so you're still our leader. We hope you like this new band from North England ( - as him - ). The singer is the boy on Oasis Masterplan album. It would be great to have some music advice from you. My father plays the organ in churches ( - Sting is fan of those things - ) and makes wine as you. Merry Christmas, ciao! ... ok, he will never write but I tried. He's kind and got the cd with pleasure.

For the email readers: Beady Eye album preview has been erased by YouTube, but here and on site I uploaded another video, and if it's erased I have another invincible way to keep it.

draw: AC Milan-Tottenham, Manchester City-Aris Thessaloniki

NYON - Breaking news. There are no big games, Barcelona, Chelsea and Man Utd avoided AC Milan, and Inter avoided also Real Madrid. Bye bye Arsenal... vs Barcelona.
Champions League draw: Angloitalian matches, Milan-Tottenham 15/02/2011, Tottenham-Milan 09/03/2011.
Europa League draw: very lucky Manchester City vs the ex Inter Milan's Argentinian manager Cuper, the Greek team Aris Thessaloniki. If they get through, City would face Besiktas or Dynamo Kiev in the last 16.
I'm reading hilarious comments: "ac milan aint as strong as they used to be"... no, we only have +13 points from Europe champions.
