Gem speaks +acoustic

DUBLIN - Gem Archer has talked for the first time about the injuries which caused Beady Eye to cancel performances in Belgium, Japan and at V Festival this summer.

Talking to Nme ahead of the band's show at Dublin Olympia last night (November 7), the first of their autumn Ireland and UK tour, a now-fully recovered Archer recounted how he slipped at home in August and fractured his skull, leading to a week in hospital. He said: "The odd thing is I can't remember falling, or much after it. It was pretty serious, shall we say, and there are a lot of people affected by it, but it seems we're through it. My wife, certainly, and the kids… It was something I wouldn't wish on anybody. I almost feel I missed it all, but they didn't – they went through it and it was horrible."
He continued: "The second fall, two weeks after the first, I've since found out, isn't that uncommon for people who've fractured their skull. Once you've had that, there is the chance of falling again and breaking an arm and/or a leg. At least I didn't do both. It's one of those things. You could think yourself into a corner with these things, worrying, but I'm not one of those guys. I've never broken a bone in my body before this summer, and now I know what it feels like. I'd hate to repeat it. And when I speak to my mam and she's worried, I just have to say 'It could happen again but I'm still here'."
Thankfully now Archer is recovered and says he's "match fit" ahead of the tour starting. He said: "I am fine. In some ways more than fine. There are slight things I see differently, which is always a bonus in life. The weird thing is when I have my guitar strapped on I feel better than ever and walk around without even thinking about what I'm doing. When I don't have it on…there are certain parts of the day when I should have my guitar on to help me. But I am definitely match fit for these gigs."
"Whether I'm completely recovered, that's a different thing. For me, completely recovered would mean being able to run down the street faster than my son and I can't yet, but maybe those days are over anyway?"
He also promised Beady Eye's setlist would be different from the band's shows earlier this year, saying: "We've rehearsed enough stuff to change it up. We'll see, I don't know what tonight's setlist is, we'll see how the soundcheck goes, but we do have a few permutations. Even just for the band's sake it's good to change things and put new songs in, and then there are a lot of people who have already seen us this year."
Finally, he talked of Jon Brookes tribute concert organised by The Charlatans which took place at the Royal Albert Hall in October. On the night former Oasis guitartist Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs stepped in to replace Archer, who watched from the side of the stage.
He said: "It wasn't frustrating, it was weird for everyone else but me, I think. I loved it, and there's no way I could've done it anyway. To see them step up, and Bonehead get up like that, was a bit of a moment."


Liam Gallagher's band are going to play the Ford SYNC studios in Leicester Square, London in front of just 30 winners. The session takes place on November 25.
Danielle Perry announced the news on The XFM Evening Show last night, with help from guitarist Gem Archer.
"It will be stripped down but not too naked. It's acoustic guitars but it's all the keyboards and the sounds and a little bit of precussion but Liam's voice," he said of the performance.
"That's kind of how we approached this album as well. We recorded with Liam singing with the band and if the vocal's a keeper - which nine times out of ten it was - then we just built around that
"It's not just going to be me and Liam or Andy and Liam... it's the band. You say intimate, and I think that's a great idea. There is something to be said for playing quiet."

'I put this mixtape together for my own entertainment towards the end of the last tour. It got a few plays backstage after gigs on the last UK dates... then I passed it on to Pretty Green when they asked me for some music to use this Spring in their stores and online. DJ Shadow and Stereolab tunes feature heavily as I was listening to them a lot at the time.... One of the DJ Shadow tracks is a really short segment of a much longer live mix CD called Brainfreeze, which I picked up in Melbourne a few years ago - in other words, that's not me scratching it's DJ Shadow haha... get hold of the CD if you can, it's cool. The first track..is an old Krautrock tune, the vocals may not be to everyones taste, she kind of sounds like Grace Slick meets Johnny Rotten.. great Italy vs Spain kings +Balotelli racially abused

GDANSK - Wtf, lol... a Spanish fan.
Maybe unexpected (according to the media and recent results), very good game by former world champions Italy, drawing 1-1 vs 2008 Europe and 2010 World Champions of Spain, still very strong today. Tactics taming better quality players, great job by Prandelli. A good result, playing on the same level against those who usually dominated the game for years. Scoring first, with "stay young" Di Natale (35 years old), who could also score another one (he played the last 30 minutes as substitute of Balotelli).
Incredible chance failed by Mario, took away the ball and was (was, then reached by Ramos) alone in front of the goalkeeper... it was too easy, he can only do difficult things :)
Also, a magic touch by Mario with his heel (people applauding). There could also be a penalty (Mario got angry), it was a foul (he was the first on the ball) but the referee didn't concede it, maybe it wasn't. It also seemed that the referee was looking for a reason to book him. Then, he was substituted, classic :). A negative match for him.
Chelsea Spanish Torres was the usual disgrace (much worse than Mario), 2 easy chances and should have been sent off. In the rules, elbow = red card, not yellow. If it was Mario doing that, it would have been a scandal.
In the next one vs Croatia (14 June) Mario must keep calm and be colder. I would also pick AC Milan's goalscoring midfielder Nocerino instead of slow Thiago Motta of Paris Saint Germain (ex Inter Milan).

Some say the Spanish fans racially abused Balotelli... Uefa is investigating. Dutch players were subjected to racist chanting while training in Krakow, Poland.
Thomas Herzog, a member of the FSE Fans Embassy team for Spanish supporters, said: “We were present during the match inside the football stadium and stayed inside the stand of the Spanish supporters over the entire course of the match. At some point during the match then, about 200 supporters started monkey chants when the Italian player Mario Balotelli touched the ball.”
Well, they said Polish people would have booed Mario. Would like to see what could happen in case of Poland-Italy (almost impossible to happen, Italy's group is combined with England's for the quarter finals... it would be great to have an England-Italy).
Come on England today, against france, that are usually common enemies of England and Italy.
It's absurd that Hodgson didn't call up Manchester City's Richards and Adam Johnson (fantastic player, very stylish). When a club wins a league, the manager should call many players from them (as to have a winning basis that is used to play together), also for the enthusiasm and fresh winning mentality they still have. 

If you're playing the Pretty Green Euro 2012 competition... again, as @ World Cup 2010, I predicted a team and exact minute: Poland, 17th minute, I'm a wizard ;) (Grande Mago ;D the Scottish Great Magician, you remember). Just one of my anticipatiiiions :)

MONZA - Here's a competition as in the past years, to win Monza from Thursday 6 September: meeting all the Formula 1 drivers, shooting photos, on 7 September going around the big park of the circuit, sunbathing :), etc. oh and watching the cars too, lol.
During that Formula One weekend there's also the "Formula 1 rocks Milan" with a concert (speedy Beady Eye would be perfect), probably also the usual F1 night @ our Hollywood Milano where Liam Gallagher was (or afterparty @ associated Just Cavalli Hollywood where Liam was) and the McLaren shop to visit as usual. Too cool places for Noel Gallagher, in fact he's never been there.
I already have an Australian model (dedicated to Noel hating them) and a Czech model coming ;), but it's ok to have 3rd girl ;) to complete the foursome, lol (plus probably my sister working again @ Monza).
Last year we asked near which famous "Oasis place" Lewis Hamilton was born (Stevenage - Knebworth).
Two years ago we asked which Oasis song was covered by the McLaren drivers (Wonderwall).

This time something about Jenson Button (he usually stays @ Beady Eye same hotel, with Jessica Michibata), dedicated to the girls (they're interested in these things :)

Messi does NOT deserve any more Golden Balls +Oasis competition

ZURICH - 3 are more than enough... with Barcelona there are many great players who play for him... in fact, with Argentina he doesn't play good. 

Xavi deserved it more. 

In Spain there are no defences...in Italy he would score half and would get injured... in fact, Messi vs Italian teams scored only 1 goal, on a penalty (he was uncorrect and even got a yellow card and had to repeat it), just last November. And he had to get a red card for another foul... just because he's called Messi, he wasn't sent off.
He's overrated... just like Noel Gallagher.

...some time ago Messi maybe said he wanted to be Noel in an Oasis tribute band... but then Messi said it wasn't true (why there are always lies around Noel?)
I love it when people say: oh Barcelona 70% ball possession, what a great football... 25% of it, it's ball possession in DEFENCE, called "melina" football (=losing time).
Slamming celebrities is my favourite activity :), did you notice? lol.
But I just say facts, it's not completely an opinion, it's more facts.

rumours say that Tevez is about to take a plane to Italy. Other rumours say the Heineken Jammin Festival 2012 this year will be in Milano instead of Venice. In any case, there would probably be Noel Galliga performing during his summer festivals tour ('cause Noel always copies - unknown word for him eh - the same things Liam does... marriages, divorces, concerts, first Milan then Rome, etc. just a few months later...must be that same management's fault... that management "not supporting"...).
I hope my tree of plums will give enough fruits for that day...
Anyway, I don't want to throw plums at Noel because of war... But I'm pretty sure there are some people around who would want tho :)

Liam Gallagher among hardest-working artists +NME awards votes

LONDON - (Photo: Beady Eye in Japan). Music, fashion, cinema... he's very busy. This about music: Liam Gallagher has been officially credited as being among the hardest-working artists in showbiz by a music industry body.
The Beady Eye frontman made it into the top 10 of PRS For Music's annual poll, which finds out which acts have headlined the most major venues throughout the year.
Olly Murs and JLS came out joint top of the poll, while Take That were in third place in the poll.
Barney Hooper from PRS For Music explained: Performing live and going on tour are fundamental to any artist and is a great way for them to engage with their fans. Congratulations to both JLS and Olly Murs and all the songwriters who they have worked with to create the music that so many people are enjoying.
JLS hailed their nod as a "great achievement", while Murs said it was a "real honour" to come out joint top of the list.
Meanwhile, Gallagher has not yet commented on his band's top ten placing, which came as a result of numerous headline dates around the UK and the rest of the world with Beady Eye.

NAPLES - Unlucky result for Manchester City in Napoli, deserved a draw or even a win, with 18 shots and a huge ball possession of 71%, but some players didn't play very well.

The moving documentary charts the tragic life of Formula 1 legend Ayrton Senna, who won three World Championships before dying in a crash while leading the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix.

Brazilian-born Senna is widely considered one of the best racing drivers of all time.

Oasis 20 years

TOKYO - Beady Eye back on tour at the same time of Premier League new season's kick off.
Exactly 20 years ago, 18 August 1991, Oasis were playing their first gig ever, in Manchester @ Boardwalk (they played other times there), supporting the band Sweet Jesus. And they're still there on the stage, tonight Beady Eye played in Austria. So we can say that Oasis' birthday is on 18 August. Zodiac: (English St.Mark-Man City) Leo :).
But in 1991 they were unknown, Alan dicovered them almost 2 years later, 31 May 1993 in Glasgow, Scotland, supporting the band 18 Wheeler.
On 18 August 1994 they famously played @ Camden studios for the Mtv Most Wanted (acoustic Live Forever and Whatever).

This photo and video is from the first mini-tour in Japan the other day in Tokyo and Osaka (they'll come back in September). Big news: Liam had a (little) haircut.

Another birthday. Tracks from the likes of Oasis, The Beatles and Radiohead will be re-worked into orchestral arrangements by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the Crouch End Festival Chorus at a weekend-long concert to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Abbey Road studios.
To be held over two days at West London’s Chiswick House and Gardens, The Symphony In The Park’s first night, on August 20th, will host the symphonic versions of a selection of rock and pop classics, while the second night, August 21st, will see various film scores recorded at Abbey Road being performed live in all their epic glory. Speaking of Abbey Road’s 80th year, one of the studio’s most famous exponents, Sir Paul McCartney, has spoken of his Abbey Road memories and the Symphony At The Park concerts.
“I have so many special memories from there and it’s still such a great studio today. The Symphony At The Park concerts are a great way to celebrate a truly iconic symbol of British music,” he said. “I hope everyone has a fabulous time there and I wish Abbey Road all the best for another 80 rocking years.”

win Monza competitions

MONZA – Beady Eye: three ring F1 circus, different gear still speeding, saying to the driver: just drive, -25 days to the deep blue sky :)

On the Vodafone Vip website there are some competitions to win Monza and Manchester (because the great Jenson Button will drive a McLaren through the streets of Manchester on August 29 as part of a three-day festival in the British city), but you can't participate to the competitions if you're not a Vodafone user.

So here's a competition as last year "up for grabs" :) for everybody, to win Monza from Thursday 8 September: meeting all the Formula 1 drivers, taking photos, going around the big park of the circuit, sunbathing :), etc. oh and watching the cars too, lol.

During that F1 weekend there's also "cosmic girl" Jamiroquai from Manchester (big fan of cars) for the "Formula 1 rocks Milan" (Jamiroquai rocks?), and the first McLaren shop will open soon.
