After firing in the first of two goals against Man United, Mario Balotelli was booked for flashing a T-shirt with the words, "Why Always Me?"
Fans, managers and commentators have been asking a similar question about the controversial Man City striker ever since he arrived in the Premier League last summer.
Not since England ace Paul Gascoigne has a footballer been in the headlines so often for his behaviour on and off the pitch.
The 21-year-old Italian has a knack of being sent off, winding up opponents and getting into trouble with the law. Yet his supreme talent persuaded Blues boss Roberto Mancini to pay Inter Milan a reported £24million for him.
That huge outlay was rewarded on Sunday with a stunning performance against arch rivals United at Old Trafford in a 6-1 win.
The £100,000-a-week striker was soaking up the adulation yesterday, with City fans claiming he was high-fiving them from his convertible Bentley.
In the run-up to Sunday's game Mario had claimed that he had changed his ways and was putting his wild days behind him.
He said: "I try to stay at home more. Maybe I'll stay in with my family, my brother or girlfriend.
"They weren't here last year. That's definitely helped. I am also growing up."
But this new, improved Mario did not last long.
In the early hours of Saturday morning, one of Balotelli's pals let off a firework in the bathroom of his Cheshire home during a party.
It caused a serious fire, with Mario and guests all having to flee.
Fortunately two fire crews managed to put out the flames.
According to reports, cops had to stop Mario returning to the blazing property to collect some things.
While that might sound like odd behaviour, in the world of Mario it is par for the course.
He had a reputation for being a handful at home in Italy, well before he joined Man City.
While he was playing for Inter Milan, then manager and ex-Chelsea chief Jose Mourinho described him as "unmanageable".
In June last year police officers in Milan found Balotelli and three friends in an Audi car with a cap gun. Earlier there had been reports of a weapon being fired.
And Balotelli had to apologise to Inter fans for appearing on TV in the shirt of hated rivals AC Milan (he's a fan).
An unsettled upbringing may explain the player's wild streak.
His Ghanaian birth parents, Thomas and Rose Barwuah, put Mario in the care of Italians Francesco and Silvio Balotelli when he was aged two.
Mario claims they "abandoned" him. But the Barwuah's claim they only let the Balotellis foster him because they could help with medical care for Mario, who had problems with his intestines.
Mancini, who had also managed Balotelli at Inter, believed that he could tame Balotelli's wild ways when he signed him for Man City.
It quickly proved to be optimistic.
Mario helped Man City to win this year's FA Cup and won man of the match, but he has earned £300,000 in club fines since joining the Blues and has been sent off twice.
He was also seen scuffling with team-mate Jerome Boateng at training.
And in March he threw a dart at a youth team player at the club's Carrington training ground.
On top of that, he angered Mancini by missing the goal with a silly backheel during a friendly against David Beckham's team LA Galaxy in July.
He loves his cars but is just as unpredictable behind the wheel. He crashed a £120,000 Audi R8 sports car in Manchester last August.
On another occasion, when police asked why he had £25,000 in his glove compartment, the player replied: "Because I can".
His love life is no less eventful. He came to England with Miss Italy finalist Melissa Castagnoli but they split shortly afterwards.
He was soon dating former Big Brother girl Sophie Reade. That did not end well either. She claimed he went off with her best friend. He is currently dating Italian actress Raffaella Fico.
There is no doubt that Mario is an attention seeker. He likes to wear outlandish clothes and change his eccentric hairstyles. At the moment Mario is sporting a mohican, before that it was a variety of zig-zag designs.
Diamond stud earrings are a favourite and he turned up for one game last year wearing a hat shaped like a giant glove.
The striker also stands out with his attitude towards his fellow professionals. Mario wound up Man United defender Rio Ferdinand by winking at him after City won 1-0 in the FA Cup semi-final in April. In December he was just as provocative when he won the Golden Boy award, honouring Europe's most talented under-21 player.
When asked what he thought about second place Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshire, he replied: "What's his name? Wil... ? No, I just don't know him."
But Mancini continues to feed Balotelli's ego.
The Man City boss says he thinks Mario can become one of the world's top players if he loses his crazy streak.
Mancini said: "I hope we arrive at the day when Mario has changed because, after this, he becomes one of the best three players in the world, like Messi, like Cristiano Ronaldo."
But he may have a long wait.
Balotelli is already making light of his house fire last weekend by hosting a Bonfire Night.
He is currently staying at a posh hotel in Manchester while renovations are carried out on his multi-million pound property. But he has already invited his mates for the next round of parties.
A source said: "He has invited everyone round for a bonfire night.
"It was a serious fire and a fair bit of damage was done but Mario hasn't let it faze him."
