Liam denies final Oasis bust-up was about Noel's girlfriend. Noel: being single made me successful

LONDON - Liam and Noel were involved in a series of bust-ups throughout Oasis's time in the spotlight, so there was no shortage of rumours about what had caused a disagreement serious enough for the band to split up.
One report suggested Liam had started the argument by making insinuations about Noel's partner Sara MacDonald.
The singer told Q Magazine (March edition) the story wasn't true and that the argument had been about 'some fuckin' stupid little twat'.
He revealed Noel had begun the now infamous bout of guitar smashing by destroying one Liam had received as a gift from his wife.
'Regardless of that, I thought fuck it. He's been a tit for the last six months on this tour, blowing hot and cold,' said Liam.
'So I thought, "fuck this shit, you're getting one of your guitars". And that was it.'
He has been busy talking it up, but had some words of encouragement for Noel, even though the brothers are not thought to be on speaking terms.

some days ago: Noel Gallagher believes writing about being young and single cemented his success

The 43-year-old guitarist has secured his place in music folklore following his 18-year stint in British rock band Oasis, alongside his brother Liam. With the 1994 release of their classic debut album, Definitely Maybe, the band attracted fans all over the world. Noel believes it was the song topics which helped the album connect with a large audience.
“We had our ups and downs, but I was in that period of my life when everything I wrote was great. People were saying, ‘Are you mad putting that on the B-side?’ I was in a purple patch. I was writing about being young and single, and who wouldn’t want to listen to that,” he told Q Magazine.
The star admits his song writing has failed to recapture the heights of his first offering, which at the time became the fastest selling debut album in the UK. Noel believes this was the only time he could compare his songs to The Beatles who he holds as the standard bearer for the industry.
“With every song that I write, I compare it to The Beatles. I’ve got semi-close once or twice, with Live Forever, for example... the solo on that is one of the greatest things in rock music,” he added.
