About the previous post (Liam saying Upside Down sucks because they didn't invite him, he's jealous :), here's the reply Alan told me today:
"he did get asked by Danny to his management twice and he didn't want to be in it, Danny was told. To be fair, nobody thought the film was going to do anything, so when I met him the last time I bumped into him around Wembley shows with Oasis, he asked about it, it had already been turned down by his management and I said its just some documentary thing. Nobody thought it was going to get this much attention, it kind of shocked me and people like Bobby etc. I know Danny asked a couple of times formally and Liam didn't want to do it. You can only ask and everybody was cool with that as we all expected it to be an art house release it blew up".

We do not have to puzzle over all sorts of specific studio chips: Why, if our goal - is to show what we are able to live?

Z: You started a new group from scratch, this is your recollection of how you did it before in the Oasis or a completely new experience that does not intersect with the fact that it was before?
L: And then, and another man ... (Begins to hum, it interrupts Andy).
A: It gives the already-forgotten feeling of novelty, the feeling that everything is still ahead. Now we can again easily play small clubs, to be mobile, not under pressure from no quarter - so it is first and foremost, freedom of action, which we have been looking for. And, when you have no more of this burden is annoying you hit, you can safely play the whole album and no one would require to perform what you would have been better would have long ago buried.

Bale ha rinnovato il contratto solo due mesi fa fino al 2015 ma forse perchè il Tottenham ovviamente vuole molti soldi per venderlo, visto quello che vale (sarà almeno 30 milioni, il Tottenham dice 60... anche Ibra costava tanto, ma Galliani è l'Imperatore del mercato...).

A proposito, ma i programmi delle televisioni dittatoriali di Berlusconi, non erano tutte a suo favore? Come mai vedo solo programmi contro? Addirittura il programma italiano più visto, Striscia la notizia, milionate di spettatori ogni giorno, con simboli della pace, bandiere politicizzate della pace, conduttori esplicitamente anti-Berlusconi. Queste trasmissioni influenzano pesantemente l'ascoltatore ignorante-medio italiano.

Liam enjoys cinema naps and buses, not autographs

LONDON - Liam Gallagher is producing a film, but thinks cinemas are boring. This is an old news we gave time ago, don't know why also the non-Oasis-websites are writing about it now, maybe to criticize him producing a movie.
Liam has revealed he often takes his children to the cinema so he can have a nap while they watch the movie, he falls asleep (me too).
The Beady Eye frontman isn't a fan of watching movies but takes the opportunity to have a rest whenever he takes his sons Lennon, 11, and nine-year-old Gene, to see a film.
He said: "I've fallen asleep in many cinemas. Last time was one of the kids' ones we went to. There was one called 'Wall-E' or sommat. About four hours fucking long. It's like they fucking gas you. I'm just there dribbling. I normally put the kids right in at the wall, get me head down, put my feet up and then that's it."
Liam - who is also father to 13-year-old Molly, his daughter with Lisa Moorish (the "fucking woman", lol) who he has no contact with - also admitted he enjoys using public transport, though it has been a long time since he and wife Nicole Appleton took a bus.
He explained to Q magazine: "Me, Liam Howlett, Natalie (Appleton) and Nicole were going to the pub, we were half cut and we just thought, 'Oh fuck it, we'll jump on a bus.' I had a good time actually. I could've stayed on it forever. It's fucking great. I don't know what everyone's moaning about."

Liam insists he’s never asked for an autograph before because he doesn’t see their sentimental value (I think the same, I prefer photos and videos. I know that a cd with an autograph on it might worth more, but I don't have to sell them, and you need a "certificate of autenticity", so one usually can't be sure the autograph is original).
The outspoken star says however, that he doesn’t mind writing them for his fans if it makes them happy.
“Never done it [asked for one]. It’s a waste of time. I mean, I understand people doing it and that. But you end up losing it. A piece of shitty paper. I don’t want someone’s signature on a fucking cigarette box,” he explained. “I don’t mind giving them. Takes two seconds, man. If it makes their day and that.”

less doping and more money for cycling

MILAN - Today it's about sports :). I never write about cycling, because I don't like it anymore. But Liam was riding a bike lately, so I have to :).
I used to love this sport around 1994 and those years (when Oasis came out), it was even my favourite sport, even more than football and Formula 1 in that period, there were great athletes as Bugno, Pantani, Indurain, Chiappucci, etc. later Armstrong an example for everyone. And this sport of course is very appreciated in the Alps mountains where I have some origins of my family (it's like Ireland for the Gallaghers), my father is a big fan.
But since cycling started to be more about doping, using forbidden things, it's difficult to feel excited for some athlete, knowing that many of them will be disqualified after some time. The legendary Marco Pantani even died a few years ago, because of drugs. In fact, even today's winner of the "Giro d'Italia", Italian tour, ending as usual in Milan after some hard weeks, the Spanish Contador has some problems with doping. Today was a bit more special 'cause it ended in the cathedral square, I had never seen this (usually it was in a park near there).
Anyway, it's a dangerous sport, in fact some days ago another one even died because he fell.
I think these athletes should be paid much more, 'cause their efforts are huge, while footballers have less risks but are paid so much more. And it's not always their fault when they use forbidden things. When I went to Milanello training centre for the first time, I was impressed for the place but I saw that footballers life is so easy, coming there with a big car, playing for a very short time, then going away.
When I was a kid there were some girls who liked cycling, but boys fooled me around 'cause it's supposed to be a boring sport, for old people, lol. I remember in March '94 (Oasis first single, Supersonic, was out in April, and I was planning a travel to England, by plane as in that video :), we were in Madrid in a hotel, and life in Spain is during the night only, so we were tired: we were all together in a room and I decided (big idea!) to watch on tv "la Vuelta de España" lol, the Spanish tour. Of course everybody fell asleep (as Liam at cinemas, lol). Not me, I was even fighting against a pigeon 'cause it came inside the room and I was trying to defend my friends sleeping. Maybe the pigeon wanted to see the Vuelta and didn't want to leave me alone, lol. A friend of mine saw me and if we think about that, we're still laughing :). He goes: Mark what the fuck are you doing?! lol

Monaco buffoons circus, i metalmeccanici di Montecarlo: gara o sfilata d'auto d'epoca?

The cars could change the tyres (so it was a big advantage for Vettel who was in great difficulty, finishing his tyres) and the race, just for a few laps, started again behind the safety car! Absurd.
And what about Alonso avoiding a chicane in a difficult moment? No penalties?! What if was Hamilton doing that? Surely a scandal. And Massa too, should have a penalty, he didn't give space as Hamilton did with Schumacher.
Unlucky but brave weekend for "3 ring circus" Hamilton, could have been in pole position without Perez accident on Saturday. When Lewis undertook Schumacher then he made a gesture as to say, go away you old geezer :). And when you find that slow guy called Massa on Ferrari, it's always a mess. Solita telecronaca allucinante di Gianfranco Mazzoni (la gente lo detesta e lui resiste al suo posto per anni, mistero), che ci ricorda che "non sa dirlo con precisione" (magari fosse solo impreciso, questi non sanno neanche parlare), bravo sei proprio nello sport della precisione, cambialo. Si lamentano di Falco che fa le invasioni ma c'è gente che non sa fare il proprio "lavoro", chiamiamolo lavoro. Poi la sua solita fase di gufaggio, "non ci sono stati ritiri", passa solo qualche minuto e Massa va a sbattere (guarda caso sempre lui, deve rimanere alla Ferrari a vita), e Schumi si ritira. "Rientrata la safety car"... no. Tutto il coro di telecronisti imbecilli: "il prossimo da doppiare sarà nientemeno che Hamilton!" ...no. Era una Virgin. C'è una bella differenza. Ovviamente poi non rettificano, non ammettendo le cazzate che sparano.
Essendo il Gp di Monaco non poteva risparmiarci le storielle su Anthony Noguess... Ma pensa che la gente che guarda la Formula 1 cambia ogni volta? Dai siamo sempre gli stessi, abbiamo capito. Se c'è gente nuova, lo nomini e basta, se lo vanno a cercare. Ma il Mazzoni, interista e di sinistra, non sa mai cosa dire e si è sempre perso snocciolando gossip inutili ed elogi a quell'incompetente (come lui) ministra sinistra dello Sport che odia il calcio, la Melandri (la moralista che facava le feste Bunga-Bunga in Africa, non ammettendole poi, nonostante le foto). Forse il Mazzoni elogiandola davanti a milion di persone, sperava che gliela desse.

A fine gara il genio di Massa e l'assurdo Domenicali sono andati a fare i piangina (da uno imparziale: il presidente Todt, ex Ferrari), chiedendo addirittura altre sanzioni contro Hamilton! Pazzesco. A dir poco patetiche le dichiarazioni di Massa, come al solito, un "pilota"-autista ormai alla frutta, schizofrenico. I sorpassi su Schumacher e Maldonado sono la fotocopia, Hamilton ha lasciato spazio, Massa invece no. Non si capisce se i commissari assistano a una GARA di Formula 1 oppure a una sfilata di auto d'epoca che non si devono neanche sfiorare. Massa e Alonso che taglia la chicane in un momento cruciale, neanche nominati, l'avesse fatto Hamilton sarebbe stato uno scandalo. Vettel ha già quasi ammazzato il campionato, e ci si mettono pure i commissari a chiuderlo del tutto, non vedo che interesse abbia la Federazione in questo. Gara che meritava di vincere ampiamente Button e decisioni assurde solo contro Hamilton che come sempre lotta come un leone. Gli unici due veri piloti in mezzo a un circo di pagliacci.

Atlanta Dreams stars visit Manchester City centre

MANCHESTER - Some space to girls and other sports. Stars from the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) visited the brand new Manchester Tennis and Football Centre at SportCity on 26 May.
The players from the Atlanta Dream watched girls from Wright Robinson Sports College, Gorton, train with coaches from Manchester City FC’s community scheme City in the Community and players from Manchester City Ladies (Ellena Turner, Danni Lea, Danni Brown, Alice Hey, Rachel Hindle, Becky Grocott).
The new facilities, which have been developed through a partnership between Manchester City FC, Manchester City Council and Manchester Sport and Leisure Trust have seen the creation of seven brand new sports facilities, including three 3G synthetic turf 5 –a- side football pitches and four new tennis courts.
The Manchester Tennis and Football centre was officially launched in April 2011 by MCFC stars Vincent Kompany, Pablo Zabaleta and Nigel De Jong.
At the Centre, CITC are delivering a range of football activities targeting local schools and the community, including after school football sessions for both boys and girls, coaching sessions for disabled young people as well as educational and health programmes.
The new pitches are also available for the local community to book and use throughout the week, in evenings and on the weekend.
The Atlanta Dream are playing the Standard Life Great Britain National Women’s Team at the MEN Arena as part of WNBA Live – Manchester 2011 on May 29th marking the first time a WNBA team has played in Europe.
Fans purchasing tickets for the WNBA event on May 29 will receive the first opportunity to buy tickets for the Men’s USA Basketball v GB game taking place at MEN Arena next year.

Liam: Oasis is in my veins

LONDON - As when I say: even grandmothers know Oasis. Unfortunately I don't have any granparent left.
In that recent pic Liam had grey hair... no dye heheh...
Nothing new in this interview.
The man with the fringe talks to Hannah Nathanson about competing with his brother and having his first drink in five month.
How did you celebrate Man City winning the FA Cup?
Oh, man, that was good. I hadn't had a drink for five months and I had a little drink that day and then went back to celebrate at my house. We didn't go mad or anything but I'm still buzzing. It was a long time coming.
Has Noel listened to your new band?
I'm sure he's had a listen. I don't think he's got Beady Eye on his iPod and he probably doesn't listen to it daily, but he's a music lover and Different Gear, Still Speeding is a top-notch album.
Will you listen to his new solo album?
Definitely. I want to see if it's as good as the ones I sang on.
Do you feel pressure to escape the Oasis legacy?
No, I'll always be Oasis, it's in my veins. I'm never going to get away from it and I don't want to get away but I'm not doing it any more. You'd go mad if you had to explain yourself every time someone said, 'Are you from Oasis?' It's easier just to say, 'Yeah, that's me.' I like the same music now that I liked then. I've no reason to escape from it because I'm very proud of it.
Why did you start a fashion label?
I just like clothes, I always have. I wouldn't call myself a fashion designer, though. When I first saw our shop in Carnaby Street I thought, 'This is fucking cool, this will do.' There's a lot of history there, it's where The Stones and The Who bought their clothes.
OK, but how much do you actually do?
I have my little take on it every now and again but there's a big team around me. I put my ideas across and then they're... expanded.
Who has the final say on an item of clothing?
I try it on and if it makes me feel good and gives me a kick then it goes in and if it doesn't, it goes in the bin. I go through everything with a fine-tooth comb.
Who would you choose as a brand ambassador?
There's no one better than me. I wouldn't mind getting a bit of Pretty Green on the Queen, though. She's still got a spring in her step.
Why the name Pretty Green?
It's an old Jam song. I wouldn't have called it Liam Gallagher. We tried that in the 1990s with a shoe collection but it's just fucking stupid.
Do the other members of Beady Eye wear it?
There's no gun to their head forcing them to, but they seem to like it, which is good.

Italian tour, noisy neighbours


MILAN - Tonight Beady Eye in Verona, Italy.
I explain you briefly what's going on, I hope you can understand, 'cause sometimes I post in Italian language, it's always something about politics-football-music.
There's a lack of news as in the summer, so today is about politics, I know you don't like it, lol.
You know I don't like him, the man speaking about politics in a so different way from Noel, and dressing as a fat woman lol, but I have to give all the news (and this is about our Hollywood club) and I think everybody should have their space, also those who think different from us. But I know that communists don't do this, they speak about tolerance and are the first ones to be intolerant, this is what I see.
By the way, why do I find so many Irish racists? Paul, City fan, is almost Irish, probably not racist, but I find many intolerant people from Ireland. Well, the Gallaghers are half Irish, and they've always been quite intolerant against everything.
In East Europe where I have contacts with many beautiful girls ^_^, even the communist symbol is forbidden, it's an offence, 'cause they've known communism (that is, 100 million dead people in the world, even much more than nazifascism).
While in Italy they play to be communist "rebels" (with rich parents, also nobles, so I laugh when I see Oasis against the royals), and they even say laughable things as "I will marry a poor worker"...oh then they only find the prince of Montecarlo, how unlucky.
We are the only country in the world where the communist symbol is even inside the symbol of many political parties... absurd. Even though the Berlin Wall fell 22 years ago.
This is because we had Mussolini 70 and more years ago (probably the only period in Italian modern times when things were quite working), but their feeling against him is still strong and they even think Berlusconi is Mussolini, and they blame him for everything, even the ozone hole (about this there should be Noel here with his sentences against the environ-mental-ist Greens). In England there's a similar feeling against nazifascism but the English have a bigger sense of nation. This is probably because Italy is a very young country, 150 years this year. We were big but only centuries ago during Romans times, while in modern times Italy is a very divided country, inside. The regionalism is very strong, as in England.
Communists say that Berlusconi supporters idolize him, and they're right, in fact I think he's God, lol.
No, I just think he's misunderstood (or they like to misunderstand).
But communists, blaming him for everything, and having him always on their minds, the so called "anti-berlusconismo", they spend all their time thinking about him, and they are the first ones idolizing him, in a negative way for themselves.
We are still discussing as fascists vs communists, not a good way to grow. Communists even thought Obama was a communist as them. They didn't even understand Berlusconi's joke about him, saying that he's "tanned", he meant that the colour of the skin is not important. Oh racist! scandal! This is a very moralistic country and they always want some scandal to discuss, we are similar to English tabloids, we paparazzi, lol. The 'funny' thing is that the people criticizing are those who usually behave much worse.
Can you imagine what happened with Berlusconi and his young lovers. One thing I don't like is when foreign tabloids judge our news, I always see they don't know anything.
Oh mamma mia, I think Italians argue so easily between them, the "noisy neighbours" lol as Man Utd Ferguson called Manchester City fans. I should marry a foreign girl, lol.
There's a positive part in not growing, Oasis "stay young" :) - Peter Pan, this is something in our "spirit", you know.
Appropriate period for politics, 'cause from Monday, Milan will probably have a new mayor (it was a conservative woman), now for the first time a communist one, and we think it's gonna be a disaster. Not really the right city for one like that. If there wasn't, that means something. And Milan has been carrying on the Italian economy for so many years. Without Milan and the North... Italy would surely be a Third World country, in fact we are close to Africa.
So I should stop promoting Milan, close all the webs, not going anywhere, and boycott my own city. I'm not gonna do that, the mayor is gonna be a disaster with his own hands. You might think: oh a communist, maybe he's a poor peasant, a working class hero... no, a lawyer. Who had some problems with law.
In these days in Italy everybody is speaking about this election. The funny thing is that many are not voting 'cause they don't live in Milan, and in the first turn we were about 650,000 people voting (Milan city is about 1.5 million inhabitants, plus millions all around it), while Italy is about 60 millions. But everybody think it's so important because Milan is the economic capital. They even think that when this mayor wins, even the Italian government could change, but it's not going to happen, Berlusconi party (called "People of Freedom") is still the first one. I don't think he's Mussolini, on the contrary there's too much freedom... there should be much less.
Recently there's a big discussion going on between a sort of music guru (I met him recently for a band) organizing events for young bands, concerts dedicated to John Lennon (even a park), "pacifist gigs", etc., but he's supporting the conservative woman as mayor, so the young communists got angry with him, they even thought he's "one of them". They always want their enemy to be intolerant, racist, etc., I think they should look at themselves.

A. Bell and M. Kane interviews: making honest music as Oasis

NEW YORK CITY - Part 2 of the interview with Andy Bell here

Andy Bell has been at the epicenter of British rock music since the late 1980s, when his band Ride were at the forefront of the shoegaze scene. From there, he did time with Britpoppers Hurricane #1 and Gay Dad before landing on the mothership of British rock with Oasis. With Noel Gallagher and company, Bell set down the guitar for the first time and quickly learned the bass. In the aftermath of Oasis’ 2009 breakup, Bell remained with bandmates Liam Gallagher, guitarist Gem Archer and drummer Chris Sharrock to form a new group, Beady Eye. The band released their first album, Different Gear, Still Speeding, in February to positive reviews, only bolstered by the group’s subsequent live performances.
When Beady Eye formed, the press and fans alike wondered if the former Oasis band members could make a go of it without their leader. But the foursome quickly proved the naysayers wrong with a killer debut album. The group have spent the better part of 2011 touring the world and proving without a doubt that, even without Noel, they’re still rock ‘n’ roll stars.
For Andy, the band has given him the opportunity to return to his original instrument of guitar after a decade playing bass with Oasis.
Bell sat down at the Gibson NYC Showroom to talk about his beloved Trini Lopez, the amazing run of drummers in his career, his years in Oasis, plans for Beady Eye’s next album and his mystical 13-year-old mentor.

What do you think your album has brought to the UK chart which may have been lacking before?

I think my album is bringing the rock and roll thing back to UK music. Like Oasis - I mean, I'm not comparing myself to them - but I'm bringing that kind of music back into 2011. It's not an X-Factor type of thing; it's solo and quite ballsy. I suppose it's got swagger, but I don't mean that in an arrogant way. It's good to still be rewarded for making that kind of honest music.

You're a big Oasis fan and are friendly with Liam and Noel. What did it mean to you to support Beady Eye on tour?

It meant so much that they asked me. I love Liam, so to be at Beady Eye's first gigs was exciting and one of the best tours I've done. Sometimes on support you feel a bit like there's no point if people didn't come to see you specifically, but with the Beady Eye tour it was perfect. We gained a lot, and people were getting there early just to see us. Travelling with my band is great too as I've known them all for a long time.

Led Zeppelin son Jason Bonham: Beady Eye are cool

LOS ANGELES - Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Experience, live at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, May 27th, while Beady Eye are in Italy.
The music of Led Zeppelin is classic, perpetually cool and heavy, defying timestamp. In Through the Out Door, which was released in 1979, was the last studio album recorded before Zep disbanded, due to the death of drummer John Bonham.
While there have been good imitators and scores of Led Zeppelin covers played, the closest taste we've had of the greatest rock and roll band of all time (my favourite, while Oasis were, let's say, Britpop) was when Jimmy Page, Robert Plant (legends loved by the Gallaghers), and John Paul Jones took the stage in 2007 with Jason Bonham at the drum kit.
And if anyone can fill John Bonham's Led boots it is, unequivocally, Jason, the Son of Bonzo.

You're playing "Moby Dick" in your set, of course.

B: Yes, very much so. And I do that with Dad, and it's just a very special thing to do each night. Something we didn't do together because we only had one drum kit in the house.

What songs can people expect to hear on this tour?

B: We kind of mix it up. We do some obscure (songs), but we do "Since I've Been Loving You," I love. "The Rain Song" (YES! - Marco, lol) we've been doing, which is just a huge, beautiful musical masterpiece which the guitarist does wonderfully well as well as the singer. The whole band has been playing really, really at the top of its game. Some of the songs we choose are tricky musical pieces, so you've got to be a competent musician to even attempt it. The last thing I want to do is pick a song that we couldn't really pull off. There's other songs in there, like, "You're Time is Gonna Come," which was never done by Zeppelin live from Led Zeppelin one. "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" is just a show stopper. That's the first time you get a standing ovation.

That must be extremely satisfying, to say the least.

B: Every night we throw in a different song, like, "In the Light" from Physical Graffiti. And that goes down hugely well. We did "Achilles Last Stand" on the first couple of nights as well. So we have a huge knowledge of all the songs, and that is the one thing that you have to have to be in the band. We didn't want to have to keep rehearsing. The soundchecks are useful for fine-tuning things. ["When the] Levee Breaks" is always a show stopper, especially with Dad playing the drums on it. He's the main drummer on that song.

A long time ago when I was reading the liner notes on Robert Plant's solo album, Principle of Moments, and saw your name. Did you record tracks for that?

B: I did all the demos for both Pictures at Eleven and Principle of Moments.

You must have been only 15 or 16 then. I saw the L.A. Forum show on that tour in 1983 and Phil Collins was drumming. How was it to be playing drums, making those two amazing records?

B: He used to pick me up from school and he'd say, "Can you help me finish up these new songs I've got?" Yeah, it was a lot of fun.

Robert Plant used to pick you up from school?

B: Yeah. It was my last year of school. "Okay, I've asked your mom. I just need you for a couple hours. Do you want to come and jam?"

It must be the most exhilarating thing in the world to get up onstage with Robert, Jimmy, and John Paul Jones, yeah?

B: Oh yeah. As I say--for me--it brings me closer to my father to play with my dad's bandmates. I always say if I can't play with them, then I'll play for my dad's audience. And that's another way of bringing me closer to him, too.

What are you listening to as far as up-and-comers and new music these days?

B: I bought the new Beady Eye, which is Oasis without Noel Gallagher. It's cool, actually. I kinda like it. I bought Adele's album. I'm getting old. (laughs) That's one of the newer things I bought the other day. And I bought the Beastie Boys new thing. So I'm still on the "No Sleep Till Brooklyn" kind of vibe.

Alan: my regret over turning down Prince Charles

CARDIFF - As the man behind Oasis, he is responsible for some of the most anti-establishment sounds of the past generation.
But Mid Wales-based music supremo Alan McGee has spoken of his regret at shunning an invitation to attend supper with Prince Charles – although he was pleased to give his house keys to ex-US president Bill Clinton.
The Creation Records boss, who has settled in Hay-On-Wye, is the first to admit that he was taken aback by all the attention and invitations from influential people he received at the height of the ’90s Britpop phenomenon.
By 1996, thanks chiefly to Oasis, Britpop’s influence was capturing attention all over the world – including America – in a Beatles-like wave.
“In the middle of all that, I got a note from Prince Charles asking would I like to come for supper?” said McGee, whose roster included the likes of Primal Scream, The Jesus and Mary Chain and Wales’ very own Super Furry Animals.
“For a week I was going to go and I just left the invitation on the sideboard before I replied. But then I just couldn’t bring myself to go. Prince Charles asked me to go to supper and I knocked him back! I’d pretty much forgotten about being asked to go until I was watching the royal wedding with my family. While they were looking at Kate’s dress, I suddenly found myself focusing on Prince Charles and I ended up thinking to myself, ‘I really should have gone to that supper with him’. Now at 50, I actually wish I had done it because now I would know how royalty think. I don’t know why I didn’t go – my wife Kate wanted to go. And I wish I had gone now because it isn’t every day that you get asked into royal company.”
But the invite was not, by any stretch, the only brush he has had with international figureheads.
Before Clinton made his headline-grabbing appearance at Hay Festival in 2001, when he famously described the event as the “Woodstock of the mind”, McGee said festival director Peter Florence approached him for a favour.
“I was DJing in Chicago at the time and I got an email from Peter asking if I would put Bill Clinton up at my place,” McGee told the Western Mail.
“When I told him I was in America he asked, ‘Can he have your house keys?’ So I gave him them. I was told that Bill Clinton had a nice stay and looked through my vinyls and commented that he thought it was a good collection.”
It was another political connection – with Tony Blair – that saw McGee criticised in some quarters.
The 1996 Labour Party conference saw the not-yet-PM being presented with an Oasis platinum disc by McGee.
And in the wake of the Blair landslide, McGee was rewarded for the part he played in the UK’s rock music scene achieving sky-scraping commercial success with an invite to a still- infamous Downing Street reception.
On July 30, 1997, McGee and his wife Kate, along with Noel Gallagher and Meg Mathews, joined Lenny Henry, Simon Mayo, Anita Roddick and Tony “Baldrick” Robinson to congratulate the new Prime Minister on his victory.
The Glaswegian says he has no regrets about taking up that particular invitation.
“When I met Tony Blair it helped me to understand how New Labour think,” said McGee.
“I got involved with government legislation and I even saw Peter Mandelson dance – and that is not something I want to see again! But the royal family is so anti what I stand for as a person. Even so, I regret not going to supper with Prince Charles, it would have given me the chance to understand them.”
McGee co-founded Creation in 1983.
In the rockumentary, Upside Down: The Creation Records Story, McGee talks candidly of the trail which led from humble beginnings in Glasgow, via drink and drug dependency, to being wined and dined at Downing Street by Tony Blair.
McGee and the Super Furry Animals attended the Welsh premier of the movie in Cardiff earlier this month.

MILAN - I think many transfers are already decided "behind the scenes", because it takes months to build them.

Raiola would never admit it but, as I told you yesterday, he always suggests bad behaviours to his players when he wants them to quit a club, to get other money. So when tabloids judge players as Mario, they should know there is someone behind them and their interests... And if you notice, also Ibra had strange attitudes lately, sent off for nervous reactions and never scoring goals, while in the first part of the league he was always scoring. If Ibra is going away, we want at least Cristiano Ronaldo, who argued with Mourinho. Ibra is almost 30 years old and we can see his performances in Champions League: not so good, it seems he doesn't like that competition. But about national leagues, he's winning wherever he goes since 2003, so Real Madrid might be interested in this. Now AC Milan's target is to win the Champions League again, so we might be not interested anymore in Zlatan, as we have seen we can win so many games also without him.
It's difficult to get Ronaldo, even though Berlusconi said he's interested in him, I would prefer the great Robben, another Raiola's player, even if he gets injured sometimes, but we have a long good story with Dutch players, since Marco Van Basten times.

Noel saw the quote on the side of a £2 coin while in a pub and liked it so much he thought it would be a suitable name for the new album. He then wrote the name on the side of a cigarette packet while drunk. When he awoke in the morning, he realised he had written "Standing on the Shoulder of Giants", not "shoulders"

Maybe knowing him Lennon was an idiot, I wouldn't got on well with him and would have hated him. People speak too much of his life, pacifism, and so on, I'm interested only in his songs.

For going around we were still using a tour bus, and as it was our first time there, we had a big surprise when a bus full of British people overtook us, all of them smiling and waving their hands but suddenly they turned and showed us their arses ahahaha

I was at 3 Oasis gigs in 1 month, even climbing the Italian Alps, highest European mountains, and arriving first in Switzerland, my last Oasis gig, seen it on the front row in front of Noel winking an eye at me ;) (and Glasvegas did the same) playing as in room for me and two Swiss birds lol, the "veline" :))

At a 1997 gig after the first chord of 'Be here now' I was literally flying, gone fuckin' mad fer it, continuously shouting and jumping embraced with all the people. Best fun of my life.
