films to watch at Christmas time

MILAN - This website is also "Hollywood" (club) so sometimes I write about films too. And now Liam is going into the films business. I'm not really a fan of cinema, but I admit there are many movies I like. I never go to the cinema, it must be really an event for some cult film, maybe because I have a huge collection at home. Don't know how many hundreds, maybe one thousand but I quit years ago... now I rarely buy them, I think I've already thrown away enough money for those bullshit. So now, I admit it, I finally "discovered" (of course I already knew) that I can download them for free, lol. I think I'm not the only one.
In the recent years I'm watching only football on tv, programmes about football. No music, no films, no shows of any kind and all those bullshit.
Of course my parents only see films and shows. Though they have "access" to the film collection, they have never touched it, they only watch those broadcast on tv. If they've seen a film 100 times, they watch it again, but only when it's on tv. It's as if they see it because they feel it's "direct live", lol. You know when adult people begin to become old, they do hilarious nonsense things. So I think I started to "become old" when I was 5 years old :)
I don't know by you, but probably it's similar to here in Italy: there are some "typical" classic films they put on tv at Christmas time. And sometimes they have nothing to do with Christmas, so I always wondered why they chose them. Maybe as a "reaction" to Christmas, for example horror films, for the people sick of Christmas "goodness".
And there's always Frankenstein Junior, Trading Places, Ghostbusters, Home alone, etc.
The only Christmas thing I could watch over and over again is not a film but Mister Bean gags.
During a Christmas period years ago, I was in Germany, and on a 31 December at night I had to watch one "typical for 31 December", according to them, a black and white one, I can't remember the title, so it wasn't really impressive... I just remember me thinking: what are these Germans doing? lol I remember I was feeling alone that day up there, homesick. When I'm alone, I never feel alone. It happens more when I'm with other people, as Richard Ashcroft's great album "Alone with everybody" :)
But thank God I prepared a huge pizza for them, with so many different ingredients, and they were happy.
Anyway, Christmas always brings some sadness... nostalgia for the old times, especially when there are no kids around. Christmas is kids. So maybe we should "call BeadyEye the kids" :), as Liam said (another way to say: make sex :). At Christmas time there's enough time to make kids, lol. That's a good activity :)
I'd like to organize a "Pretty Green night", but people are oh so lazy!
In this period some football programmes will go "on holidays", so I watch some film, it's like a tradition.
During the year I have a lot of free time, but watch films only in the summer and at Christmas time, it must be one of those nonsense things.
Years ago I started to buy all the films by the great Englishman Alfred Hitchcock, definitely one of my favourites.
I still have to watch "Goal 3" (probably it's not good, the first one had Oasis' music) and "Pirates of the Caribbean 4 - On stranger tides", Liam has seen it recently, I love those films about pirates, reminding me of the Secret of Monkey (Liam :) Island when I was a kid.
And I want to see again but carefully Bullit, feautring one of Liam's idols, Steve McQueen.
I wouldn't pick anymore Berlusconi's Blue Moon Rising about Manchester City, because there's Noel Gallagher ahaha. I'd rather watch again some from my favourites:
(menu :)

Quadrophenia (from today that Pretty Green parka is available)
Rear window (somehow Oasis' video for "Where did it all go wrong?" was inspired by this)
Zabriskie Point (very Oasis' "Who feels love?")
Almost famous (groupies, very Led Zeppelin)
High fidelity (already wrote enough about it)
Up! (lol...by Russ Meyer... perfect for Christmas ahaha this is about, let's say, naturism, open air nudism ahaha it's hilarious, mental. I know an English girl who does nudism on beaches, and I have to try someday lol, like "fucking hippies" ahaha as Noel Gallaga says. In Italy it's not really allowed, so we should have to go to my Brit island Minorca)
Cast away
Contact (love the films about planets and astronomy)
Midnight cowboy (great film, some music was inspiration for Oasis' "Turn up the sun")
The Da Vinci code
Angels and demons
Fight club
Coming to America
Pulp fiction (one of Noel's favourites - and he hates violence eh)
The Lord of the rings (very Led Zeppelin :)
La dolce vita (classic: the foreign girl coming to Italy and paparazzi)
Il ragazzo di campagna (countryboy, comic film about Milan and counytrside around)
and some spaghetti westerns by Sergio Leone (Oasis' first album cover image), music by Morricone (inspiration for Noel songs as "Everybody's on the run"), films as The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (one of Noel's favourites - and he hates violence eh) or westerns with the Italians Terence Hill & Bud Spencer

some groupies from "Almost famous"

"Up!"
