Mario Balotelli: a day in the life. +City to buy Bale

MANCHESTER - A unique insight into a misunderstood talent. Take a walk on the wild side...
Photo: Mario finally able to wear a bib? :) Tabloids and people had fooled him around a lot in a bad way, but he's much more intelligent than them, 'cause he's got self-irony.
The talented Mr Balotelli began his day with a spot of shirt signing at Carrington - most of the lads begin their day this way. Talk about badly drawn boy - Mario attracts bad headlines by the truckload, but in reality he's a lovely guy with an impish sense of humour. Everything he's supposed not to be according to some of the tackier tabloids. Mario and Patrick Vieira later visited St Ann's Hospice in Heald Green to bring some much needed cheer to some elderly patients. Mario's winning smile went down particularly well with a lady who was charmed by the young striker. And when it comes to kids, Mario is a pussycat! Along with consummate professional and another lovely guy in Vieira, a visiting youngster had a day to remember when he met two of his heroes. Finally, with the nation's media gathered for a photo opportunity, Mario and Patrick meet volunteer canteen staff Shirley and Irene. Shirley later revealed she thought Patrick was "quite a looker" while Mario was the sort of lad "any mum would be proud of!"
Also, watch out for a video of Mario's visit to St Ann's coming in the next few days on City site.

Manchester City are launching a bid for Tottenham star Gareth Bale.
The Daily Star says City boss Roberto Mancini wants to break the bank to land Bale in a deal worth £30m plus England star James Milner.
And Mancini is set to go to war with bitter rival Sir Alex Ferguson in the race to sign Tottenham star Bale. Mancini has made Bale his No.1 transfer target this summer and is determined to get his man.
Fergie has also been tracking Bale and is keen on luring him to Manchester United, but the United boss knows he cannot compete with his big-spending neighbours and is poised to look elsewhere in his search for re-enforcements.
Landing Bale ahead of Fergie would be a huge boost for Mancini as he looks to turn City into genuine title contenders.
And the Italian is so determined to capture the Welsh wing wizard that he is even prepared to offer England star Milner plus £30m in the hope of securing a deal.
Mancini is convinced he can strike a deal for Bale and a source said: “Gareth Bale is the one player Manchester City want to sign above all.
“Roberto Mancini knows he is one of the best young stars in Europe and will break the bank to get him. “It doesn’t matter what he is valued at or how many other clubs are interested because he knows no-one can match City when it comes to competing financially.”
