why in England everybody's drinking so much? drinking doesn't rock

MILAN - It's some time I wanted to write this post. Of course not only in England, but I see people drinking much also in other places, as Germany, East Europe, and especially some places in Italy as Veneto, Rome, etc.
You know I'm far from being a moralist, and I do drink more than enough, but so many English girls drinking so much it's not nice to see. Some say it's even "fashionable" there, but I tell you, from a different point of view, more than fashionable, it sucks.
If you think it's "trendy", really it's not. To be honest, if nobody ever told you, you look like idiots.
The same for footballers (worse, 'cause they even get a lot of money), and we see the results... oh but of course it's "Capello's fault, the Italian", according to tabloids. If I was the manager, they would have to obey as soldiers.
I'm not saying I have a "wonderful life" but if one drinks so much there must be something wrong, maybe it's just the place he/she live in.
I remember some years ago there was one of those "hilarious laws" in England, where drunk women had to wear "pretty briefs", because people find them lying along the streets and they had to appear "nice to see"... Not really a good solution for alcohol. It's like closing the fence when your cows already escaped and paint the fence.
Look also at profile pics on Facebook (when I see them I laugh, for not "crying"), it seems 90% of young people there, are always on alcohol, they always have a bottle in their hands and even think it's "cool". When you're 40, your liver will be fucked. They say it's fun, and "you live only once" but I think you can have fun without drinking.
Anyway, I doubt the quantity of alcohol the girls drink, is so big as it seems (often they drink just something and they're already drunk), but it's a matter of behaviour and about that "nice to see" and "fashionable" they think it is.
Take example from Liam and quit partying. Sort of :). At least, deny you were drinking. When he was drinking @ Primal Scream party (photos with beers in his hands), then he said he quit partying. When he was drinking (hard) some weeks ago in Milan, then he denied that. Really, drinking doesn't "rock" anymore.
When I happen to go to a party or a place where I drink, I leave without saying goodbye, don't know why :) if I didn't like the people drinking, myself too :)
So start leaving parties before time, and you'll create an aura of mystery surrounding your absence :)
But don't use any excuse as “I'm just going to the bathroom”...that's for weak people :) ...just "phantom".

HALF of the UK's 15-year-old girls have been drunk at least twice, a report reveals.
The figure is almost DOUBLE the average in other wealthy countries.
A third of 13 to 15-year-olds have been hammered at least twice too - again the highest rate in the civilised world.
The study, which names Britain's teenage girls as the biggest binge-drinkers among rich, industrialised nations, was compiled by think-tank Demos.
It shows girls here are now more likely than boys to have been binge-drinking at least once in the last month.
One third of teenage girls said they have been "intoxicated" in that period - second only to Denmark in Europe.
A shocking 11 per cent admitted they had sex they later regretted while drunk. A quarter were injured or suffered an accident while sozzled.
Twenty-seven per cent of girls aged 16 to 24 had gone binge-drinking in the last week, against just 17 per cent in 1998.
The report, using figures from a host of studies, showed one third of girls aged 11 to 21 had drunk so much they'd "lost control" or been sick.
Just over half said they drank because of stress or to "forget their worries".
Demos deputy director Julia Margo said: "Across Europe, Britain has one of the worst problems with binge-drinking by teens - and girls here are drinking more than boys.
"This should worry ministers as the number of teenage girls that are also reporting that they are unhappy most of the time is on the increase."
Home Secretary Theresa May said: "These findings are further proof that Labour got it very wrong on alcohol."
Alcohol Concern chief executive Don Shenker said: "Ministers need to tackle this issue urgently."
