the Italian Woodstock: Monza rock festival 1999

MONZA - Well this is not about Oasis, but rock anyway. Somehow a nice memory, but not so much... anyway, it's history :). You know sometimes even the bad memories are good, because they're memories, so they are past :). I was at this festival with my (past :) friends, I hardly have old friends, in fact they're not my friends now. I believe in love but not so much in friendship, it always seems to me there's always a sort of "interest" behind. When I go to a place I always make big friends with some people, but passing the time it's all lost. As Beady Eye's Four Letter Word: nothing ever lasts forever. Probably if I met some of the old friends we would talk again, but, we don't meet :).
This festival was just a few metres beside the Formula 1 circuit. I was there because of Aerosmith, I used to like them when I was younger. Steven Tyler, Stefano Tallarico, Italian origins :). There were a lot of bands (and also: there should have been other bands, as The Cardigans), Italian good singers as Alex Britti (see his song about Milano) and bands as Litfiba (it was their last concert ever, but then reunited, they're on an European tour in March as Beady Eye), the Black Crowes, also Echo&the Bunnymen I was naming yesterday, that's why this came to my mind. It was July so it was very hot in that period, and big storms can happen... one happened, lol. The biggest one ever seen, exactly during the half of the first day while bands were playing. And while it was raining heavily, all the people were not even considering that the event could be cancelled, we only cared about music. Meanwhile there was more and more water around, even some mud as in Woodstock, but above all it was water, there were real RIVERS when the people then realized the concert was suspended :). These disasters usually happen in Venice, it’s very common there at the Heineken (Manchester City sponsor :) festival, there are always tornadoes, but only during Heineken festivals, lol. Under the storm among thousands of people getting mad and then running away, I even found a girl who was there alone, she was working with me in that period, for a sports television.
So we all had to run away inside the park (a wood) there, inside the cars still hoping the concert could continue (it was totally impossible, only mad music fans could wish that). When we were at home almost all of us got the fever, but the tv said the festival was continuing the next day. Beautiful sun, of course we went there again :), even if we had the fever (also, music fever :), and it was free for the people of the first day, we attended also Lenny Kravitz nice show, etc. and Mtv interviewed me, I took the microphone and probably said something strange as I had the fever and my voice was, let’s say, very deep.

Litfiba, "Vivere il mio tempo" (live my time), quite meaningful for this post,
"ti direi: hai ancora voglia di nuotare in questo mare..."
(I would tell you: do you still want to swim in this sea...)

and also this one, "Goccia a goccia" (drop to drop)
