McGee: Coldplay are a dilution of a dilution of a dilution

Alan McGee: 'They should get rid of the Brits awards'

Scottish music mogul also slams nominees Coldplay and Paul McCartney

Former Creation Records chief Alan McGee has called for the BRIT Awards to be scrapped.

In an interview, the Scottish music mogul blasted the awards questioning the way they are run.

"They should get rid of the Brits,"McGee told The Daily Record. "[They should] start again with 20 music journalists who actually care about music getting together, instead of a bunch of self-interested record company people who just vote for their own acts."

Slamming some of this year's nominees in the process, McGee blasted Coldplay's nomination for 'Best Album Of The Last 30 Years', for 2002's 'A Rush Of Blood To The Head'.

"Coldplay are a dilution of a dilution of a dilution," he commented. "Chris Martin makes me want to eat someone else's earwax rather than listen to his records."

McGee, who discovered bands such as Oasis, Primal Scream and Glasvegas, also found time to take a shot at former Beatle Paul McCartney.

"McCartney should retire," he insisted. "John Lennon is probably firing bullets from another dimension as we speak."

He added: "Music should be like football. Once you turn 40, you should become a manager or get lost. It's for kids. You lose perspective. You don't have 66-year-old football players. There's a reason for that."

Meanwhile, Upside Down a film documenting the 16 year history of Creation Records will be released this spring.

Then he said the Rolling Stones should retire as well.

Su Facebook pullulano i gruppi contro i Coldplay.
Sfigato.
